Movies To See: 2012 Version

I’m going to pre-review these according to current release date. And awesomeness. No, just kidding. Just release date. XD Also, I will put a star in front of the ones that I am most excited for (which, sadly/happily enough, is nearly all of them =P). For the ones that have an actual trailer (I will not put teaser trailers unless they are awesome), I will give a link for the trailer.

March 9: *John Carter of Mars (or, actually, it looks like they’ve shortened it to just ‘John Carter,’ but I like ‘John Carter of Mars’ better and think that captures the essence of the movie’s weird awesomeness better than ‘John Carter’ =P) is sci-fi (my favorite kind of movie 0=)). It is directed and written by Andrew Stanton (there are other writers as well, but I don’t really know who they are), who has directed and written three movies for Pixar (WALL-E, Finding Nemo, and A Bug’s Life), which was the original reason that I was excited to see it, but, after seeing the trailer, there is no way a sci-fi fan who is not a snob cannot be excited for it. ^_^ It looks really fun and like it could be a movie that gives new life to the sci-fi genre (and/or be the Star Wars of this year. Here’s hoping =P). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlvYKl1fjBI

March 30 The Pirates! Band of Misfits is by the folks who made Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run, so it is claymation (crazy hard work that stuff is, which just makes it so much more amazing). As with all their previous work, it looks like it will be really fun, adventurous, and just generally a bit insane. And, come on, who doesn’t love pirates?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzddJ-yxaqY

April 13 *The Cabin in the Woods is one of three movies coming out this year that are written by Joss Whedon. And if you know me at all, there is really nothing else to say. Or, well, there is, but I’ve said it all before. Basically, The Cabin in the Woods is Joss Whedon making a horror movie. I wasn’t very excited for this movie when I heard about it, just because I’m not really a fan of horror, but, after seeing the trailer and from the look of the poster, it looks like it might be a sort of sci-fi-y horror movie (that’s just my sense), which would make a horror movie more appealing to me. Lyss is going to force me to go to it, so I don’t think I have much choice in the matter. Knowing Joss, it will probably be utterly terrifying and I won’t be able to sleep for weeks, but whatever. =D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJUIgf7lsCY

May 4
*The Avengers... What can I even say?? This is the most anticipated of the three Joss Whedon movies coming out this year and that is for good reason. A LOT of good reasons. =P Captain America, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr, come onnnnn!), Thor (Lokiiiii!), the Hulk, Hawk Eye (!!!!), and numerous other smaller superheroes ALL IN THE SAME MOVIE. Robert Downey Jr and Joss Whedon. (I have now decided, yet again, after watching the trailer and getting hyper, that RDJ and Joss need to do more movies together because RDJ can really pull off the lines Joss writes with the perfect, sassy aplomb. They’re just a perfect match, GOSHDARNIT.) Did I say SUPERHEROES?? And, gosh, Marvel. I know there were other reasons I thought of while watching the trailer, but they kinda slipped my mind while watching the rest of the trailer. Basically, what I’m saying is the Avengers is gonna be freaking amazing. I’d say it’s my most anticipated movie of the year, but this is the same year part 1 of the Hobbit is coming out... =P Anyways, check out this trailer (and, honestly, all the Avengers trailers are so good it’s hard not to go watch all of them when I watch one, ‘cause I’M FREAKING DYING HERE). Okay, I’ll stop now. 0=) Watch the trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOrNdBpGMv8&ob=av3e

May 25 Men in Black 3 is the third movie in the Men in Black trilogy...series? =P (Real shocker there, eh?) I mainly am just looking forward to this because I really enjoyed the first two (and, I mean, Will Smith... Come on =D). They’re crazy, fun, hilarious sci-fi movies. And the third looks just as silly. I might not see this right away in theaters, but I’m definitely going to watch it sometime. It’ll be enjoyable. The trailer actually makes it look more exciting than the other two, mainly because it looks like there’s time travel (and who doesn’t love a bit of time travel? =P). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyaFEBI_L24

June 22 Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter has a title that just makes me want to see it. If nothing else, it will be entertaining. There does not seem to be a real trailer for this yet (sadly enough). I don’t know much else about it besides the fact that it has a hilarious title. *shrug*

*Brave is also coming out on June 22nd and, well, it’s the Pixar movie of the year, so there’s no doubt that I’m going to go see it on the day of premiere. It looks freaking gorgeous (which is nothing new with Pixar movies, but it doesn’t stop me from being amazed every single time they let out a new movie) and then, of course, GINGERS. Who can freaking resist gingers? And a whole adorable family of them?? Anyways. It looks like a blast of a movie. Watch. The. Trailer. XD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEHWDA_6e3M

July 3 The Amazing Spider-Man I used to be excited for, but... well, I’d be thrilled if they made a Spider-Man movie with the sarcastic, sassy, hilarious Spider-Man from the comics. Why do they feel the need to turn it all serious? I just don’t understand. I also don’t like that it seems that they are making all the traditional Spider-Man swinging and climbing into part of the feel of the movie - and that feel makes it look like a video game. There is a chance it could still be pretty good, but at the moment I’m not super thrilled. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XayxMPrUP4

July 20 *The Dark Knight Rises is the last movie in the Batman trilogy by Christopher Nolan. The first one was good, and the second was absolutely amazing, and the third is looking to at least be good as well. Anne Hathaway plays Catwoman, which is going to be incredible, and, while the trailer is kinda pathetic, it still looks like the trailer for a pretty cool movie. If it lives up to expectations, it could be one of the top movies of the year (after the Hobbit and the Avengers, of course... 0=)). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9R6zD8VcQTQ

October 5 Frankenweenie has no real trailer as of yet, but it is, presumably, going to be a full length version of a short film that Tim Burton made years ago. As a lover of Tim Burton’s stop motion, I’m excited for this. They haven’t done a very good job at advertising it yet, though. December 7 Les Miserables, the musical, is being made into a movie and the cast itself is what excites me. Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Hugh Jackman (have you seen him sing and dance?? oh my gosh!) as Jean Valjean, Helena Bonham Carter as Madam Thenardier (who is more perfect, seriously??), Russell Crowe as Inspector Javert (should be interesting)... Wow. On the other hand, here is no trailer yet, sadly (not surprisingly, though, considering the release date and that it’s a musical), so no previews to view... =(

December 14 *The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Sequel. Lord of the Rings. What else to say? I mean, besides the awesome actors. Watch the trailer. You will become impatient. ARGH. COME OUT ALREADY GOSHDARNIT. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T90Holdcrps

Undecided Release Date
*Much Ado About Nothing is yet another without a trailer, sadly enough. It is the last of the three Joss Whedon movies coming out this year. It’s made by Joss and his wife’s production company, Bellwether Pictures and is a modernization of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing (real shocker there). And it has Nathan Fillion! (Heh heh heh.) Basically, there’s no way it won’t be awesome. I also believe I read somewhere that it’s going to be black and white? Or maybe I made that up. Anyways, it’s supposed to come out this year but there hasn’t been an official release date appearing anywhere yet.

NaNoWriMo 2011

Yep. =D

My story is being very uncooperative right now, so I am basically doing anything but writing. Well, that is, writing for my novel. =P Hopefully a few more characters will come in and make it more of a party, but atm it's kinda dull. Probably because I'm writing like one sentence every ten minutes. Gina, you should know that the story will take forever to get anywhere if you don't write. I think I need some wordwars. Hm. P'rhaps.

So far it's about this gal named Atalanta (fabulous name), and it's on Nimba Jimba (but of course XD). Not much else has happened yet. Well, except Atalanta being rather violently inclined. =D

I keep getting distracted, also, by trying to find names, 'cause I'm incorporating friends into the story with little cameos, and I want them to have to spot the cameos, so I'm only giving subtle (or almost non-existent =P) hints. =P It's fun. ^_^

First day of NaNo. Checked in. =D

Time For Some Whedon-y Gloating

0=)

So, I participated in the Whedonverse Swap Round 7 on Craftster.org. If you want to know what the spritz a swap is, you can ask me sometime through email or something. I'm too lazy to tell it again right now. =P

And no complaining about the pictures not being pictures but links to pictures. I hate putting pictures into blog posts because blogger is a total brat when it comes to posting pictures. At least in my experience.

Here we go:

First, an awesome hoopla of the same quote I sent my partner (how funny is that - well, she did say it was her favorite Dr. Horrible quote, so, not so surprising, I guess)! Also, her very first hoopla! Wow, I'm impressed! And it looks way better than mine (which I'll post pictures of later, once I get them from Noah). Especially with the cute little birds. I gotta say, I love the addition of the little hearts. I was considering adding some to mine, but I wasn't sure how to do it. My brilliant partner beat me to the punch, all right. XD

Another fabulous Dr. Horrible quote: "Laundry day, see you there. Under things, tumbling." I love the cute little washer and especially especially the teensy tiny underwear,, heh heh heh heh. Just too awesome. =D

Sadly, this picture did not turn out as well as I had hoped... The quote in full, for those of you who don't know, is a man playing with two plastic dinosaurs (a stegosaurus and allosaurus, apparently, in case you're wondering =P):

Stegosaurus: Yes... Yes. This is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over this land, and we will call it... This Land.
Allosaurus: I think we should call it your grave!
S: Ah! Curse your sudden, but inevitable betrayal!

It's one of my favorite funny parts of the whole series. One of many. XD Very many. ^_^ (Joss is just that much of a genius =P) She turned it into a pillow! I cannot wait until I have my own place so I can set this on my couch to show it off to all my guests. 0=) (And turn them into browncoats. BWHAH HAH HAH HAH HAHH!)

AND! Last, but most absolutely not least... The traditional, high-esteemed, fan-favorite: the manly man hat of the Hero of Canton! (aka Jayne ;)) Definitely my favorite. I received it first, the day before my birthday (coincidence? I THINK NOT! =P j/k). Sadly, that was two days after Serenity played at Riverview, so I did not get to wear it with geek pride in public... But, still! Jayne hat. Uber awesome. =) Originally, she forgot the pompom, but she is just so awesome that when she realized she had forgotten it, she sent me one along with the rest of my lovely loot, and it's so beautiful that I've only put the yarn end into the hat so it's on there, but not officially attached it. (It's too much fun to play with. -- I mean, have you ever had a giant pompom on a string?? Oh my gosh. Too awesome.)

http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/183321_25Aug11_IMG_0374.JPG

All the loot in a happy family! (The Dr. Horrible picture is a calendar page which she wrote her message on the back of! So awesome. :D)

Oh, and she also sent me some extras (crafting supplies), which also included a cute little plastic T-rex! Mr. T-rex (who I really should come up with a better name for, but that was just spur of the moment) likes looking fierce:

The Rainbow Patchwork Chronicles: Squares Pt. I

So, I've got maybe 200+ squares cut out at the moment, including the 140 I bought online. I got a 100 no dups (well, supposedly... there was one dup, but I'm sure that was just an accident), which had some really pretty squares and two absolutely adorable Beatrix Potter squares (not the dups =P). I have decided I have to collect Beatrix Potter fabrics and make a quilt or something. I also have decided that I have to collect cute illustrated prints (such as the REAL Winnie the Pooh drawings and any fairytale ones that are pretty - hopefully some Arthur Rackham prints are out there somewhere...).

Anyways. The other 40 were batik squares which were sooooooo gorgeous. I think I might have to get more of those. They were just too pretty.

Basically, I've done the math for the skirt, and I need a bit more than 500 squares (originally I thought it was 450-ish, but that was because of an error in teh maths). The last tier will be the purple tier and it will have 200-ish squares, I think. (I can't remember for sure.)

I'm so exciiiiiiiiiiiiiiited!

There is other craft-y news, too, but I think I might save that for later. 0=)

Inspired!

Okay, so I've been inspired to make another patchwork skirt. This time it will have smaller squares (I believe I did 6" before, this one will be 4"), be longer (hopefully floor-length), and, best of all, be a rainbow! Woooooo!

So far, I don't have any squares, but I think I'm going to start cutting from the fabrics I currently have (specifically, the ones leftover from the fiery patchwork skirt) and shrink the ones I'm not sure I've shrunk. I've also bought a two batches of colorful 4" squares from Etsy and might buy another from Ebay. And, hopefully, sometime this week I'll get to Joann's to get more quilting fabrics. Yaaaaaay! I'm excited!

I will be posting progress along with pictures (as long as I can figure out how to get them easily and put them on the computer - which probably won't be a problem). =D Heh heh heh.

My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic

Really, it is.

Yeah... I just finished all the current episodes, and I am so going into withdrawal. Who knews such a girlie-looking TV show could be so bloody awesome!?

Pinkie Pie is freaking ADORABLE. O_O Augh.

What's even more disturbing is the show is very popular with young guys... Like highschool/college age. I mean, okay...? But I guess I'm not one to talk. Even if I'm not a guy. =P

Anyways, it's an adorable show. ^_^ And awesome. And hilarious. And addicting. So check it out. If you want. You may or may not get addicted. ^_^

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I can't wait for more episodes. ^_^
